desperate address book problem, please help

Dear All,

I am struggling with a seemingly quite desperate Address Book problem.
About two weeks ago I have restarted my computer and when I entered  
to the Address Book afterwards all of my 4000 contact has been  
disappeared.
The Address Book was empty (like in a newly installed system), as  
well as the "AddressBook.data" file.
I have checked the other files in the ~/Library/Application Support/ 
Address Book/ -folder and there must be something in the  
"ABPerson.skIndexInverted"-file.
Does anyone know any solution, trick or something to recompile the  
"AddressBook.data"-file from this file, or just recover the addresses  
from this file.
Any help is much appreciated...
