Is what correct?
The fact that /var, /tmp and /etc are symlinks to /private/ ? Yes,
that's always been the case.
The comment that the VPN installer reworks /opt? I have no idea
whether it does this or not, so I can't tell you if the comment itself
is correct (as in 'accurate'). /opt isn't standard, but it's not a
problem, either. I would have issue with some arbitrary installer
reworking chunks of the filesystem, though, so I wouldn't say it's
correct (as in 'the right thing to do').
