Broken emacs

This is a serious bug of the installer, and they shouldn't get away with 
the attitude "Hey, if upgrade-install does not work for you, try 
archive-and-install, or go looking for a workaround on the web".

Upgrade-install of Leopard *should* work, and if it breaks 
systematically like in this situation where it breaks for everyone who 
has updated their emacs after October 11, 2007, then this is a bug that 
needs fixing.
