I'm going to commandeer my wife's system tonight, hopefully.  I scp'd 
the combo updater (it's HUGE!) to the black macbook in a directory under 
my home.

All the disk tests I run show that something is just keeping loginwindow 
from running...the drive seems fine, my personal data seems fine.

*sigh* stupid updates. To be fair, this is the first time I've had an 
issue with them.

If I boot with the black system as a firewire drive and the white one as 
the host, then run the combo updater, does it prompt you where to 
install the updates?  I don't want to accidentally install the updater 
to my wife's system.
