You are joking, aren't you? While the MAc version of VMWare is newer
than the Parallels one, BMWare has been doing x86 virtualization for
over a decade. The Mac bits are just eye candy ;-)

Most reviews I have read think VMWare is more mature and feels more
solid though it is the newer Mac product. I don't know as I have not
tried it. I just have an older version of parallels, which works
fine. I did set up my sisters Macbook with Parallels and XP and after
a while XP started to freeze on boot or something. I have not seen it
in person since it started doing it so I don't know what the issue
is. I told me sister to install any Parallels updates but have not
heard back. She is stressing as she replaced a broken XP machine with
WordPerfect that she was using for her dissertation and nowher new
computer's Parallels and XP is flaking out and she cannot use WP... I
wish she would drive up here so I can help her fix it. (about a 1
hour drive)
Either will probably work
