RFC 2136 is "Dynamic Updates in the Domain Name System (DNS UPDATE)".
The common interface for RFC 2135 style updates is "nsupdate" (part
of the BIND utilities).
Dynamic DNS could be defined as the set of actions by which DNS
records are updated by entities other than the hostmaster for that
DNS domain. RFC 2136 is thus an element of the "Dynamic DNS" set, but
by no means does it define the set.
Sometimes, sadly, the unwashed masses get it right. Even if it is
only by accident ;)
