I didn't say DynDNS = DynamicDNS. I said I use DynDNS.org (in part is
implied because there is more than one component) for DDNS in DD-WRT.

It's sufficiently common as to be impossible to extract it from
vernacular. The toothpaste is out of the tube, so it doesn't matter
if it's right or wrong. It simply is so now. DLink, Linksys, DD-WRT,
many, many others use the term the way I've described it, not just
the way you have.
You're welcome to put in a clarifying entry in Wikipedia and see if
it gets redacted.
