Display colorsync profile remains unapplied?

There is no way you're going to be able to match two displays without
calibration and color-aware application programming. There are quite
a few variations in displays, even with the same model. The bulb is
probably the biggest difference, and if you're familiar with the term
"color temperature" then you'll understand why a brighter bulb will
have a different color tint than a dimmer bulb. But the other
components of the display device can age, and color will drift.
You should probably do some research on color management workflows,
output device calibration, and Apple's ColorSync API.

Hi there,
I have a remote CPU that is driving two projectors. Each projector is
connected via DVI and they are in a mirror configuration. Both
projectors have been assigned a Generic RGB profile given that the
colours generally look brighter than as per the projector's Colorsync
profile. However... one projector remains brighter than the other and
it looks as though the Generic RGB Colorsync profile has been applied
to it but not the other.
Here's what I have done so far:
1. Ensured that the Generic RGB profile has been applied to both
displays via the System Prefs app and the ColorSync utility.
2. Selected other profiles prior to selecting the Generic RGB one to
ensure that the latter should be picked up.
Having done this one of the projectors remains brighter than the other.
I'm just wondering if a reboot of the machine will fix this. You may
ask why shouldn't I just give it a go, but the machine is remote and
in front of hundreds of people in a public place and so I'm reluctant
to reboot. However I will reboot if someone here knows that there's
some initialisation that occurs on a boot-up that may fix my problem.
I'll also add that the brighter display is not just brighter, but the
blues are richer etc. so there does appear to be colour differences.
It may well be that the differences are associated with a newer bulb
in the brighter projector but when I saw it yesterday it did look
like a Colorsync difference.
Thanks for any help.
Cheers,
Christopher
