I haven't tried that no, but I don't follow.

As I said in a previous post, if I use column view and turn off "show
icons", the full listing of 900 files shows up instantly (ok maybe 2
seconds of delay). If I turn just that one feature on, the Finder and
do anything else, the Finder beachballs for about 5 minutes as it
downloads 900 redundant icons. There are two problems here. The
Finder becoming unusable is a separate problem than all the extra
icon information it's requesting that it doesn't need to. That's
clearly a local problem.

And if I do the same thing on the server's Finder while using ARD,
my client window shows these files in list view as fast as the screen
is updated. So the problem isn't occurring with the server's systems
using the server's Finder and ARD to display the result remotely.
That tells me it isn't a server problem (per se).

It also doesn't occur when the client Finder accesses the server
remotely in column view with show icons turned off. It only occurs
when show icons is turned on, in any view (list, icon or column).
That strongly implies to me that there is a Finder and maybe also AFP
issue with respect to the display of file icons over an internet
connection.
