I know this isn't a popular position to take, what with you preppin' for a
great session of Finder Beatin', and Dan about to go off on a tangent about
stuff...

but have you actually run some of the various utilities on the server, like
maybe fs_usage when this is happening to see if the problem is really on the
server or not?

You may have, I tend to gloss over things when they start to get silly
without any actual amusement.
