This is not about previews. We're just talking about plain old icons, based
on file type and/or creator, not even per-file custom icons. And in a
directory where every file has the exact same type, creator, and extension.
The Finder is *INCREDIBLY* slow over WAN links in this case. I can't even
imagine trying to use previews...
