InkChecker could not get ppd

This morning, one of our systems can no longer print to any of our
printers. Even doing a "preview" results in an alert panel saying
"Error while printing". Some printers are remote, some local USB,
etc. Whatever this is, its munged all printing for this system only.

Console.log:
TextEdit[657] InkChecker could not get ppd for PSC_2350_series
TextEdit[657] PMSessionValidatePrintSettings failed (error code =
-50)
TextEdit[657] Invalid PMPrintSettings in print info
   No such file or directory

I tried reinstalling the drivers for the various printers, but it
made no difference.
I did a disk permission repair and a fsck on the boot drive, but no
dice.
What could be wrong?
