Thanks for the input...I tried pricing some itx based boxen and
found that the premium for the mini was not that prohibitive.
I an fiddling with the Apple Remote Desktop and the Vines(aka OSXVNC)
vnc
server. I have "Chicken of the VNC" as my Mac client. Just trying to
see how one might talk to a headless box. ( my wifes G4)
Observations:
1) Don't use "fast user switching" it seems to screw up everything
2) My linux "Vncviewer" cannot talk to ARD. ( but the Vines server
will work with vncviewer.)
3) It will cost about 100.00 for a adc to dvi apple adapter so I
can use our Studio Display LCD monitor. ( maybe 75 for the
ebay route) It appears to me that one really needs a display/
keyboard
for initial setup and major version upgrades....
I read somewhere that headless macs assume 800x600 display
resolution.
I suspect the smallest mini will suffice for a while, after the
newness wears off I might be brave enough to try to pop the lid :)
