Small Home Server?

Hi,

I am thinking about getting some kind of home server...

We have a new mac book pro, an old QuickSiver G4 and a dual boot
winXP/Fedora laptop.

The G4 is my wife's machine and is mostly off. I have config'ed
the laptops to go to sleep fairly quickly.

I am running a subversion server on the Fedora side and a moinmoin
wiki on the mbp and the fedora side ( I am getting old and forget
stuff if I don't write it down ). I also run a postgresql database
on the mbp and the fedora critter.

Seems like this sorta stuff would best be placed on a "always on"
box.

Would the mac mini be sturdy enough to handle this sort of work?

Will it boot/run without a monitor or keyboard?

Would doing maintenance work on the mini be painful
( seems like I could boot it from the mbp using firewire...)

The other option might be a pc running linux at about 1/3 of the
cost of the mini ( but it is not clear how to run/maintain such
a rascal). I really don't want another monitor to clutter up our
computer room.

Any suggestions/caveats?

Jerry
