G4 XServe hangs when hot swapping drives

Nothing, last entries depend on other things (if any) that were going  
on prior to the unmounting.

Machine has completely hanged. Can't ssh into it to run df or any  
other tools.

Don't know, I'll have to try that. Do you know what Disk Utility's  
unmount command does? We've tried that also and it still hangs the  
machine.
