Hi David,
Alt + n will give you the ~ then Shift A will insert capital A under
it to give you this Ã
Without the shift you will of course get ã
You can find this and other special character keys in the Keyboard
Viewer. Go to the International Preference Pane and under Input Menu
check the "On" box and the Keyboard Viewer will appear in your
Keyboard Menu bar. You can then show and hide the Keyboard Viewer as
needed. Press the modifier keys (Alt, Control and Apple) to see how
each one affects the keyboard.
