The files you're looking for are in /var/db/netinfo  and /var/db/ 
shadow. Placing the contents of those two folders on the fudged  
install should straighten out the directory information. Beyond that  
you might want to trash /Library/Preferences/ 
com.apple.loginwindow.plist and see if it boots.
