How I know that? Well I use a little trick... :)

If you open the "International" system preference and click on the
"Input Menu" tab. You can "Show input menu in menu bar" and turn on
the display of the "Keyboard Viewer". That little keyboard viewer will
allow you to explore what the option key, control key, etc. do to the
currently keyboard keys.
