Triplicate emails sent?

I should add:

A.  I have just compared the headers for each email in one of the  
triplicates and there are no differences between them (i.e. the  
headers are identical), and

B.  Although the mail server is directly connected to the Internet  
(i.e. it has its own IP address), it is within an organisation that  
is currently "tightening control" over Internet access and email  
servers etc.
