mod_sherlock_apple

I just discovered the mod_sherlock_apple apache module that is
included with Mac OS X Server. The only information I can find about
it is the template.sherlock file that is with the web server files.

The first time I tried to run it I was told that there is no sherlock
index. Fair enough, I then indexed just the folder I am using for the
web sight (the folder is in the Documents folder and not in the
user's documents folder).

Now the search page template.sherlock seems to work, but where I
should be seeing the results I just see a double dash. The tag in the
.sherlock file for the output is <SHERLOCKOUT>. No complaints about
the index but at best it is not finding any matches.

Does anyone have any information on this module? I have searched
Apple's sight and found it in Darwin, but just the source code, no
documentation. I also searched with Google and what might be the most
useful document is in French, and I don't read French.

Basically, I need a simple search engine for internal office use. The
Sherlock module looked promising, but I am also open to other
suggestions. I don't program in php or other scripting languages so I
am looking for a solution that just has me do the html code.
