OmniPlan 1.6.1 rc 1 Released!

by Troy on October 8, 2008

Well to keep the releases coming today, OmniPlan 1.6.1 rc 1 is now available!

This is essentially the same as beta 1 with the exception that the beta expiration has been extended.

Since version 1.6, we've fixed a bug where copying tasks within a project could create duplicate resources. Also, OmniPlan no longer hangs while writing iCalendar data with the “One even per work period” option if uncompleted work is assigned to a resource with no future scheduled work periods. Last but not least, HTML Task and Resource List exports should now always be nicely formatted using a Cascading Style Sheet (CSS). In prior versions, the stylesheet was omitted when following an HTML Full Report export.

Please keep in mind that this version is still in development so feedback is encouraged and we apologize if it breaks your computer, corrupts your files, or ruins your weekend.

As always, please let us know if you have any questions or comments. You can contact us directly via our support page or by using the Send Feedback feature in your copy of OmniPlan.

General Comments: Omni, I love your products and have been doing the GTD thing with Omni Outliner and have been using OmniPlan since its release - also now on the iPhone. Recently I downloaded a (free trial) copy of Things for the Mac. I gotta tell you, I hope you guys are looking closely at the competition. Things is more flexible for me. It thinks more the way I do. I love the ability to easily tag items to be done Today. I like the folders for “Some Day” items which helps me to brainstorm and document things I would like to at some point in the future. I like the containers for “Areas” where I can organize projects that never end, like maintaining my home and car for example. At the same time, I wish Things offered me a way to just make a simple shopping list for the grocery store which seems overly complicated to me. I keep finding myself leaning back towards Things because it seems quicker and more user friendly while OmniPlan feels overly complicated. I've paid for OmniPlan for both the Mac & iPhone, plus I've always apprecited Omni's products and commitment to the Mac platform so I have a vested interest in seeing your products succeed. Just my two cents! -Bart
