OmniFocus demo at the San Francisco Apple Store

by Linda Sharps on June 5, 2007

Hey, what are you doing Thursday, June 21st? If you're in the area, you should come by the San Francisco Apple Store around 7 PM, because we're going to be showing off OmniFocus.

(“Showing off” = “fervently praying the app doesn't crash”, of course.)

Our pal Merlin Mann will be presenting, so even if the topic of personal productivity normally bores you to tears (gosh, I can't imagine why it would; now let us discuss the finer points of Moleskine notebooks for twelve straight hours) you should still show up, because Merlin is almost frighteningly entertaining. He's the kind of speaker where first you're laughing, then you're nodding, and before you know it you're chugging the funny-tasting Kool-Aid, you know?

He'll be talking about productivity tips in general and discussing how OmniFocus fits in his workflow, so it should be more fun and interesting than your basic software demo. You should definitely come by and say howdy.

If you're on the other coast, never fear! We're tentatively planning a visit to New York in the next month or so.

Also: if you're planning to be at WWDC next week, and you'd be interested in an informal OmniFocus meet-up, let us know. Leave a comment or email us.

Hi

I'm a big fan of both Merlin Mann, and the OmniGroup software. But I'm in europe, and together with 6.5 billion people; unable to attend the events. Is it possible for OmniGroup to arrange som sort of a webcast, or video-recording of the event for us to enjoy afterwards?

I would appreciate it alot, as would alot of other Omni/MerlinMann-Fans.

Best Regards

Can we get a copy of the OmniFocus SneakyPeek at WWDC next week? ;-) I'll be there but haven't got OmniFocus yet, so wouldn't have much to say at a meet-up about it ;-P

Hey Omnifolk - it there any way possible someone could film it? Maybe a nice screen capture with audio… It would be a nice complement to Ethan's stuff. I find the videos to be much more instructional then reading directions.

As a tribute to good manners, I shall now say “Pleeease”!!

Would it be possible to podcast the SF store event? After's Merlin's 43Folder's post today, it would be great to watch a “live” demo.

Great news about the possible NY event - count me in!

When are you coming to London? We have a nice big shiny Apple Store here too, you know.

I'm planning on it. Have iCal set to remind me 15 hrs ahead of time. (heh heh) Will there be tee-shirts? Please bring tee-shirts so I can make my geekiness complete.

Love you guys!

I'm on the other other coast—Chicago. Come here too.

I'll add my request for a video podcast of Merlin's demonstration. There are lots of us folks nowhere near either coast, or even within a reasonable drive of SF or NY even if near the coast. Please don't leave us in the dark! :-)

Uh yes, please make a videocast of the event. :)

I fourth (?) the vote for a video podcast of some sort of the event with Merlin at the Apple store.  I'll be in town for WWDC, but won't be there through the 21st.  I keep coming across places I want to use Focus *now*, but I haven't gotten my beta seed yet.. Waiting hard…

You know, in general it is a good thing living outside of California or New York. Whenever there is a natural disaster movie, or a show about terrorists, the rest of the world can sit back and relax, because while LA and NY get continually nuked, tidal waved, and even (for some unsound reason) swamped by volcanoes (!) we can just sit back and giggle at the people who chose to live there.

The only problem is, we don't get our OmniFocus fix. Given a choice between randomly eccentric volcano eruptions and OmniFocus, I'd have to say… well, actually hmm. I'd have to think about it.

Anyway, what I'm trying to say is: We get to watch terrorists attack you, the least you can do is let us watch OmniFocus too!

(That didn't really come out right!)

How about posting a link to an .ics file so that people don't have to manually input event details?

Based on above comments I think the name for your next product should be called “omnipresence”  ;-)

Hey Linda,

As stated in many of the other replies, I would highly appreciate a video, video-podcast or something similar to download and watch, too. I will definitely not fly to the event from Germoney, and I am pretty sure that even the attendees would like to go through the presentation again and again.

As an overseas OmniFanBoy, i'd love a video or podcast of the demo event as well.

I'm a Merlin/Omni fan as well - I've also got kGTD - Madly reading Dave Allen's book at the moment to see how all this hangs together.  With that in mind being an australian I too would like to see a webcast of the OmniFocus show on the 21st.

ACK!  Not gonna make it. the 21st but I did just got my Sneeky Peek(thanx Ken!) Maybe a 2nd demo the following week would also be nice. Say Thursday the 28th @ 7pm. Thanks all again

I second the 'just release the damed thing' comment but know full well that Focus will be worth waiting for. My dilemma now is finding a way to stay motivated with my cobbled together GTD system when I know something so good is just around the corner. No more listing projects and context separately in OmniOutliner. They're on the same list (smacks head in giddy amazement).

I'd also love to see a video of the event if you guys can swing it. I'd attend but am in oz.
