Not just Hump Day; also OmniPlan Ship Day

by Linda Sharps on December 12, 2006

Tomorrow, tomorrow, we love you, tomorrow! It's only a dayyyyy awayyyy!

Why thank you, I do have a beautiful singing voice, don't I? Like melodious church bells, one might say. Or a dying goat. You know, whichever.

So! OmniPlan is shipping tomorrow. We are all greatly relieved completely sick of betas really looking forward to making the final release available to you guys.

By the time a product finally ships, there have been so many months of feature definition and coding and UI reviews and documentation and bugfixing, it's almost sort of anticlimactic to just…post some stuff on a website. There should be fireworks, I'm thinking. And maybe a tuba.

Well, since we don't have those things, when you see OmniPlan go live tomorrow, please imagine some fireworks, a tuba, and the musical intonations of a dying goat accompanying your download.

We've also made some changes to our online store that will be available tomorrow. Basically, we added a quantity discounting system that – as long as you are purchasing 2 or more items at the same time - gives you 5% off your order, per additional item, up to a maximum of 30%.

Jeez, did that make any kind of sense? So if you buy a copy of OmniPlan as well as copies of, say, OmniDazzle and OmniWeb, you will get a 10% discount on your order.

Or, if I switch just for a moment to marketing weasel-ese: buy more, pay less! (Sort of!)

Also, for license-holders of PMX, FastTrack Schedule, Merlin, ConceptDraw Project, there will be a $60 rebate available to you if you license OmniPlan. You'll need proof of purchase for those apps, which you'll need to send to us. There will be an Official Rebate Form posted tomorrow, which may not warrant a tuba accompaniment, but perhaps an oboe?

ANYWAY. Congratulations to everyone that's worked on OmniPlan, and many thank-yous to those of you who beta-tested for us.

Come back tomorrow for hot-off-the-presses shipping software! Go ahead, crash our website with your many many downloads! WE DARE YOU!

(Did that work? How about if I double-dog dare you?)

Comments

Ala “Christmas Story”, it should be *triple-dog-dare!*.

“Also, for license-holders of PMX, FastTrack Schedule, Merlin, ConceptDraw Project, there will be a $60 rebate available to you if you license OmniPlan. You’ll need proof of purchase for those apps, which you’ll need to send to us. ” I hope this doesn't imply that OmniPlan is going to be much more expensive than my other OmniApps (Web, Outliner Pro, Graffle) - my job at the Uni does not supply the software I need as a Mac user to interact with the Windows world (e.g. Microsoft Project) so I have to buy it myself.

Sorry, Christopher - the price has been on the website for a while so I just plain forgot to include it. Plan retails for $149.95, same as OmniGraffle Professional.

If you work for a university, though, you will be eligible for the educational discount, which gets you down to $90.

Congrats! Any user of other Omni products, such as Outliner Professional are not entitled to discounts?

And huh, I might be the 129539847865-th guy that asks that: how's OmniFocus going? I personally can't wait to see it, and also to see how all those products: Outliner, Plan and Focus can give me a fantastic productivity boost when used together.

Best Regards.

Could the cross grade from other MacOS project apps include also iTaskX?

Any chance of getting updated productivity bundle (so far only using omni outliner and graffle, so the productivity bundle where not really worth the money, but for my next update ...)

I'm with Ian.  I use iTaskX and would be interested in switching IF the competitive upgrade was available for that product too.

The Powers That Be will definitely take note of your requests for iTaskX. My understanding is that the crossgrade doesn't currently cover iTask because of its (relatively) lower price point than the other apps.

Guillaume: there won't be a bundle any longer, because of this new quantity discounting system, which basically allows you to build your own bundle discount.

Congradultations on the release.

How about giving your loyal, longstanding customers (you know, the ones that already have purchased and continually pay for upgrades for the majority of your existings products) the same deal as those just buying them for the first time when purchasing OmniPlan?

Nice… now you guys can get to cracking FULL SPEED AHEAD on OmniFocus.

Next Action Item: Release an Alpha or sign me up for the beta.

Any chance your cross-grade might include certain unnamed applications from Redmond that we've had to run under Parallels until OmniPlan shipped? ;-)

My company provided a license for MS Project, but they're not going to spring for a Mac app just because I want one.

An addendum: as far as “Proof of purchase” for the competitive upgrade goes, we're 100% happy with a PDF/RTF/copy-n-paste/screenshot of your purchase of whichever product you used previously if you'd like to send that as an email attachment.
