The Blog

Another manufactured holiday

by Linda Sharps on March 29, 2007

Here's the question I've been asking myself this week: am I too old to understand the appeal of Twitter, or not cool enough?

I'm not sure I like the answer either way.

Anyway, since I don't have any exciting product news at the moment, I thought I'd ask you folks to share some entertaining website distractions. Because it's, um, Omni Mouth Link Day! Oh, you didn't know about Omni Mouth Link Day? It's like Thursday, only with more links.

I'll go first:

• The ColorJack Sphere; handy for all kinds of design projects

Giant microbes! Aw, who's a little Borrelia burgdorferi?

Fantastic video of someone's entire wedding party doing the Thriller dance

Kent Rogowski's Bears: gosh, it looks like the perfect baby shower gift (“Hm, he doesn't normally cry like that . . .”)

Okay, blog readers—your turn. Spill your latest web finds, in the name of Omni Mouth Link Day!

Two great sites:

Life size Blue Whale:

Complete with sound effects. Move thumbnail wherever you'd like. Brilliant.

Bembo's Zoo:

Already a preferred font. This is fantastic. Ibis might be my favorite. Yours?

Funny, we received some of the giant bugs as free gifts in the lab (buy for about $2 zillion worth of consumable and get a free bug :-> ).

I got the Flesh Eating bacteria :->

That thriller video was awesome, all I can remember that was cool today was a cute kitty on cute overload:

I see your sock kitteh and raise you an even smaller kitteh

Man, that Bembo's site is cool. I like all of them, but maybe especially the x-rayed wolf.

Another video: a low-level flight over the Swiss Alps.

A cool photo of global warming in action.

Are you using OmniWeb Linda???

Because I can only get Colorjack to work in Firefox. Tried OmniWeb at first, but it doesn't work for me in that browser…

(Perhaps you shouldn't let anyone at the office see this comment   ;-)  )

Shoot, I could have sworn I looked at the ColorJack site in OW—I guess I have a bug to file!

It worked the first time I tried it. While it may be a bug, it seems likely something on the ColorJack site has changed since this blog entry was posted.

It worked perfectly in OmniWeb for me, too—but then I realized I was running the latest internal build of 5.6, not the latest public release (5.5.4).  Checking now in 5.5.4, I see the problem.

So the good news is that the problem is already fixed in 5.6.  The bad news is that 5.6 isn't quite ready yet—but it's getting pretty close!  (Maybe it's about time for some sneaky peeks.)
