The Blog

Today we're releasing OmniFocus 1.8, a free update for anyone using OmniFocus for Mac. OmniFocus 1.8 includes numerous updates to improve the user interface, workflow, and reliability.

The 1.8 update will now clean up automatically when switching views, moving items to their proper locations, just like OmniFocus for iPhone and OmniFocus for iPad. Filtering is improved with the more flexible View Bar. All items, including groups, projects, and Inbox items, can appear in Context-mode lists, making them easier to find. Also, groups and projects can now become next actions, so there is no need to switch to Planning mode to finish up a project.

Perspectives can now be easily shared as files, by simply dragging them out of OmniFocus. As introduced in OmniFocus for iPhone, a new bookmarklet can send web pages to the Inbox from a web browser.

Synchronization is faster and even more stable. Additionally, due item alerts can be synchronized alongside the OmniFocus database as a calendar.

For more information, including complete release notes, please visit the OmniFocus download page. If you're already using OmniFocus, you can Check for Updates from the OmniFocus menu to automatically download and install this latest update.

We hope you enjoy OmniFocus 1.8!

After a beta testing period that got somewhat interrupted by WWDC and submitting OmniGraffle 1.2 for iPad to the App Store, we're happy to announce that the final versions of OmniGraffle and OmniGraffle Professional 5.2.3 are ready and available for download.

For those not following the beta releases, version 5.2.3 fixes some important bugs with respect to Bézier lines and how they connect to shapes, fixes some important issues when exporting to other formats, and adds file management options when exporting to various OmniGraffle formats to better get your files working on the iPad.

Find the disk images at our download page, and read up on the lengthy history of OmniGraffle at our historical release notes page.

Testing of OmniGraffle 5.2.3 beta 2 went well over the last two weeks, so we're ready to go for a release candidate. As is usual policy around here, we'll let the RC bake for a couple of weeks and then go final if nothing bad happens.

Disk images and release notes covering the history of version 5.2.3 can be found at the bottom of the OmniGraffle download page.

After a beta period that was a little longer than expected thanks to that pesky tablet, we're ready to go final with OmniGraphSketcher 1.1.1. If you participated in the beta, you already know that we've added Japanese and French localizations to OmniGraphSketcher. We've also improved support for international number formats (both for importing and display) and made lots of other tweaks and fixes.

OmniGraphSketcher 1.1.1 is available on our downloads page or via software update. Release notes are available in the usual spot (as well as the Help menu). As always, please don't hesitate to use the Send Feedback item in the Help menu, or email us with any questions or feedback.

We've added a couple of small fixes in this beta release, one that has to do with canvas names being incorrect on an export to HTML imagemap that was due to a different fix in beta 1, and Bézier lines should be back to normal, with the addtition of routing better according to their control handles when both endpoints are in the same location.

The beta's at the bottom of the download page, as are the release notes, short as they are.

We've made fixes to some pesky bugs that got missed during the development of OmniGraffle for iPad, and made some modifications to some of the built-in stencils, and added file settings for all exported OmniGraffle document types to better help getting your files over to the iPad.

Two OmniGraphSketcher Updates

by Dave on April 15, 2010 | Comment

Thanks to the unpredictable timeframe of  Apple's App Store review process, today there are two new releases of OmniGraphSketcher available.

OmniGraphSketcher for iPad 1.1 is a significant update which focuses on adding data import capability and improving the user experience. Now that we've had time to use OmniGraphSketcher on actual iPads, we've adjusted the draw and fill tools to make graphing even easier and faster, and we've fixed issues affecting the document browser, graph editor, and info popovers. We've also had a chance to implement the data importing feature that is available in OmniGraphSketcher for Mac. Thanks to those of you who have patiently waited for import, and those who have provided feedback via the App Store and Email!

Those of you running OmniGraphSketcher 1.1.1 beta 1 on the Mac may have noticed that the expiration date was fast approaching! We don't normally like to cut things this close, but developing two versions simultaneously has proved to be tricky. Beta 3 improves our Japanese and French localizations, and fixes a problem with entering Japanese text. We've also included some smaller fixes and improvements related to the iPad app. You can grab this release via our downloads page or via software update; as always please don't hesitate to email or Help > Send Feedback.

(If you're wondering what happened to beta 2, it was released and then immediately replaced due to a nasty bug)

Amidst all the craziness going on with iPad development, this version of OmniGraffle got pushed to the wayside a wee tad, we've basically been ready to go final with it but kept delaying the release in order to work on that other OmniGraffle project.

To sum up (for those of you who may not have been keeping up with the beta releases), we've added some preferences to disable the Multi-Touch trackpad gestures, as well as some preferences for dealing with momentum scrolling if you're using a Magic Mouse, and fixed a fair number of bugs associated with shared layers and Mac OS X 10.6 "Snow Leopard".

You can find the disk images to download at our newly-revamped downloads page, and read up at the historical release notes page.

Today we took a break from iPad development and updating the website to push out the first beta of OmniGraphSketcher 1.1.1. This release includes French and Japanese localizations, as well as a fix for a pesky crash involving Undo and lots of other smaller tweaks and fixes. You get get this release via the OmniGraphSketcher downloads page; please be sure to email us (or Help > Send Feedback within the application) with any questions or feedback.

Between iPad development meetings, wireframing, mocking things up, and general UI theorycrafting, I managed to remember to release OmniGraffle 5.2.2 rc 1, but almost forgot to tell anyone about it.

So, beta testing went well, and we're here at release candidate stage. Simple enough.

You may find the release candidate at our beta page, and as always, release notes await.
