OmniOutliner 3.9.4 is now available which fixes a compatibility issue a few Automator actions had. It also contains localized versions of the updated help file from version 3.9.3 as well as a couple export bug fixes.
Thank you everyone who helped test the 3.9.4 betas to make sure the new build process didn't introduce any bugs, we appreciate the help!
When you're ready, you can grab this version through OmniOutliner's software updater or from our site where you will also find the full release notes. And as always, if you have any questions or run into trouble, please email us at omnioutliner@omnigroup.com or use the Help -> Send Feedback option in the app.
As promised, the updated help is now availabe for all localizations! Also, if you happen to use OmniOutliner's Automator actions, you may have noticed the trouble we've been having with the past couple releases. Due to this, we have changed the build process and fixed the Automator actions for hopefully the last time! We don't anticipate any problems arising from the build change but we'd appreciate any and all testing we can get.
Head over to the download page to grab the beta, if you're running a final release, the beta will not appear in the software updater. If you run into any problems, please contact us at omnioutliner@omnigroup.com or using the Help -> Send Feedback option from in the app.
Thanks!
OmniOutliner 3.9.3 is now available! All HTML exporters and Paste with Current Style should now be working correctly. And for the first time in… years? The help file has been updated to reflect the changes in past versions! Currently only the English version has been updated, but we will do another release as soon as the localized versions are ready.
There's also a couple of other bug fixes in this release. Please see the release notes for full details and when you're ready, download it manually or use the built-in software updater. As always, please contact us using Help -> Send Feedback or at omnioutliner@omnigroup.com if you run into any problems or have a question. Thanks!
OmniOutliner 3.9.3 beta 2 is now available for download! Just a couple bug fixes this time, most notable is fixing the issue with attachment tags appearing too small after launch. Also, we're currently in the process of updating the help file which is long overdue! Only the English version has updates at the moment, localization will come once it's been finalized. If you notice any outdated info in the help, please let us know in case we don't catch it.
You can read the full release notes here or head over to the download page. If you encounter any problems with this release, please reach us at omnioutliner@omnigroup.com. Thanks!
OmniOutliner 3.9.3 beta 1 is now available for download! This contains mainly Snow Leopard compatibility fixes and fixes related to Snow Leopard compatibility. Of particular note is that Paste with Current Style should no longer fail under certain circumstances under 10.6 and the HTML and Word (HTML) exporters work again. We also hopefully fixed an issue that's been reported periodically caused by pasting data that contains style values beyond the range ever expected. This would pop up an alert from the OOLayoutManager and cause people to have to force quit the app.
Please note you will not see this beta in the software update check if you're running a final version. Betas are opt-in if you're running a final version and must be manually downloaded. If you're running a beta version, you will see new betas listed.
You can read the full release notes here or head over to the download page. If you encounter any problems with this release, please let us know at omnioutliner@omnigroup.com. Thanks!
This release is to mainly address the OmniSoftwareUpdateCheck crash that some people will encounter using v3.9.1. If you're using 3.9.1 and OmniOutliner crashes on you when you check for updates, please manually download this release. Sorry for the trouble!
There's also a couple of minor 10.6 compatibility issues that were recently discovered that will be fixed in the next release. Those issues are:
- The Open button will not respond to the return key automatically on the open file and attach file windows. You can still tab focus to it.
- Paste With Current Style may fail while in text editing mode if you copied from a recent WebKit based browser such as OmniWeb 5.10 or Safari 4.
We are working to get these fixed for another release.
Please see the release notes for full details on changes and you can download it manually when you're ready. As always, please contact us using Help -> Send Feedback or at omnioutliner@omnigroup.com if you run into any problems or have a question. Thanks!
This beta is primarily to address the OmniSoftwareUpdate crash some people were encountering with 3.9.1. This issue was with submitting your system information when you had multiple display adapters. If you turned off submitting system information to avoid this, we'd greatly appreciate it if you turned it back on so we know if the crash has been fixed for everyone. To do that, go to the OmniOutliner menu -> Preferences -> Update tab -> Check the 'Include system information' box.

Lots of news today, people, so I'm going to try and keep this short so you can skip straight ahead to the part where you sit back and bask in that new-software smell.
Updated: OmniFocus! OmniFocus 1.7 is now available for your downloading pleasure, and includes a bevy of interface improvements designed to make everything just a little more smooth and simple. We also re-worked Perspectives, hopefully making the process of working with them much easier. Overall sync performance has been improved (yay!), and you can now view a list of the attachments in your OmniFocus document, and delete them as necessary to speed up document syncing even more.
Also updated: OmniGraffle! OmniGraffle 5.2 includes support for support for portables with Multi-Touch trackpads, so you can now pinch to zoom in or out, resize a selection, or rotate a selection. We also added fixes to tables, shared layers, and dealt with some stability issues.
Also also updated: EVERYTHING ELSE. OmniFocus, OmniGraffle, OmniOutliner, OmniWeb, OmniPlan—hold on, typing cramp . . . okay—OmniGraphSketcher, OmniDiskSweeper and OmniDazzle have all been updated with support for Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard.
You do not EVEN want to know what time the engineers went to bed last night, is what I'm saying.
Everything can be downloaded from our handy-dandy Snow Leopard status page. Enjoy!
OmniOutliner 3.9 is now available as a free update for all OmniOutliner 3 customers! Thanks to everyone who helped beta test, we appreciate it!
This release brings some much needed updating in the form of our self-installing updater and switching to Apple's auto-save feature. Any file you have open will now be backed-up even if you've never saved it!
The other big addition in 3.9 is a new exporter for OmniOutliner Professional. You will now find a “Word 2007 Format (docx)” in the list which exports to Microsofts new Office Open XML format. The docx format can also be imported to Pages '09 and some other apps. This export will retain your level styles and also retain the outline structure for viewing in Word's outline mode. More details about what is supported and its limitations are available in the release notes.
If you're already using OmniOutliner 3, version 3.9 is a free update. If you haven't tried out OmniOutliner yet, version 3.9 has switched over to using a 2-week fully functional trial instead of trial licenses, so give it a go! There's also a number of smaller additions and bug fixes in this release. Please see the release notes for full details. Head on over to the download page when you're ready, or use the built-in updater if you're using a 3.9 beta (OmniOutliner menu -> Check for Updates). If you have any feedback on this release, please let us know by using the Send Feedback option under the help menu or send an email to omnioutliner@omnigroup.com. Thanks!
Beta 6 of OmniOutliner 3.9 is ready for use! With the OS requirement change to 10.4, we realized we could now implement one more feature we've been wanting to do for a while. OmniOutliner will now use Apple's auto-save feature for backups instead of our own version. This is the same thing our other apps use already like OmniPlan and OmniGraffle. The one major feature this gets us is that new never before saved files will now be backed up incase you encounter a crash. Those files will be saved to “~/Library/Autosave Information”. Backups of previously saved files will be located in the same folder that contains the OmniOutliner document. More details are available in the release notes.
Beta 6 also fixes a couple bugs, and a couple crashes that existed in the previous 3.9 betas.
Thanks!
