OmniGraffle 5 has a great many keyboard shortcuts for various menu entries and commands, so many that we made a handy document accessible from the Help Menu to umm, help out in learning these various commands.
To take it one step further, Nick Finck at Blue Flavor has compressed this lengthy document to tabloid size so that it can be printed out and referenced without covering up what you're working on in OmniGraffle, as that could become quite frustrating indeed.
We've hoisted that same document up on our OmniGraffle Extras page, and here's a handy direct link as well.
Thanks much Nick, and cheers!
Some time passes, some code gets written, some bugs (quite a few, in fact) get fixed. This particular release zeroes in on a number of Visio import and export support fixes, direct import of PDF files has been greatly improved, and a large number of issues surrounding groups and tables have been addressed.
Just a little backstory here concerning groups, particularly those special groups in OmniGraffle that we call tables. Way back in the day when the table feature was first implemented, a number of neato features were present that over time in testing proved to be rather problematic, so they were either removed or obscured. In going over a number of group-related fixes, we've managed to address those problems, so with this release you can do some pretty neat things, including rotating tables as well as rotating individual table cells. Give it a try and see what you think.
Alongside bugs and issues with groups are a number of stability fixes in place that relate to moving and rotating groups with lines connected within, so if you've been running into a large number of cryptic crashes, you will want to take a look at this beta release.
The beta page has returned, and the historical release notes remain in the same location.
Ta-da! OmniGraffle and OmniGraffle Professional 5.1.1 are now final, for those not keeping track of the beta releases, here are the relevant changes:
- Updated Tier 1 foreign language localizations for strings that were changed or added in the 5.1 release.
- Fixed a memory leak that could lead to a series of nasty crashes.
The beta page is gone for now, please to find the proper download at the download page.
Feedback on the updated Japanese localizations was extremely positive, so we're marching forward to a release candidate, which is now available at our OmniGraffle beta page.
Historical release notes are in the usual location.
Cheers!
Another beta release, to add the updated Japanese localizations much as we did with the other Tier 1 languages in the beta 1 release.
Nothing beyond that code-wise, however if you do work in Japanese, we'd appreciate the feedback to see that everything is in place properly.

While developing OmniGraffle and OmniGraffle Professional 5.1, we wound up changing and adding quite a few strings and what-not, and as a result those corresponding localizations got broken in the process, this beta release has corrected foreign language translations for Chinese, Dutch, French, German, Italian, and Spanish. Japanese will be coming shortly in another beta release.
Also of note with this release is a fix to a memory leak related to some caching code; this repairs a common CGSWindow error that would lead to a string of constant crashes, so if you've run into a number of stability problems it's encouraged that you pick up this beta release.
As ever, the beta page awaits.
At last, OmniGraffle 5.1 and OmniGraffle Professional 5.1 are out of beta testing, and available for download from the website.
No changes have been made since the release candidate, however for those of you who have not been beta testing, here's an overview of what's gone into the 5.1 release:
- Improved Visio compatibility adding support for the Enhanced MetaFile graphics format along with many other fixes and changes.
- Improved user interface and focus for the canvases and outline sidebars.
- Added new adjustable arc/wedge and star shapes.
- Addressed stability issues.
- Reset the trial period.
- Many bug fixes have been addressed in this release. You can see the full list of changes at our Historical Release Notes page.
The download page awaits, and enjoy!
Just a few nits and picks at some things in the online help index as well as some small fixes to searching for stencils on Graffletopia, and we've landed squarely at a release candidate for OmniGraffle and OmniGraffle Professional 5.1.
Of note is the fact that due to some strings changes, localizations are not fully completed, those are in the process of being mended, and we've also reset the trial period so if you don't currently have a license key for version 5 you can again run it sans license for the 14 day trial period.
Still found at the beta page, and as always, release notes are in the usual spot.
This particular beta release is a week late, partly due to myself taking ill last week, but more importantly due to some new work being done in the area of caching, which has proved to be fairly unstable for some users during prior beta releases.
We have high hopes that these fixes will alleviate the number of crashes encountered, however if you do run into a crash please do send in the report that pops up in OmniCrashCatcher, it's very helpful to us.
A number of Visio-related fixes and some other interface changes are also under the hood in beta 5, which should make some folks out there happy.
As always, the release notes and beta download page are at your beck and call.
And another beta release is made, this time concerned with fixing a number of Visio import problems as well as addressing some rendering issues with objects on shared layers, among other things.
Of particular note is that we've gone back to a single thread for text layout, we're hoping that this will address the problems some users have been running into with individual characters going missing at certain zoom levels, so if you have been running into this, you'll want to check out beta 4.
As always, the beta download page and release notes await.
