Disneyland!

I was playing some Indiegrrl Kosovo benefit shows in the L.A. area May 14th and 15th and had to somehow get my new 73 lb. Kawai keyboard down there from Seattle without a flight-approved case. (Editor's note: have since had one made and can now theoretically fly to the four corners of the earth for a gig on a moment's notice...) So I bribed my sister into coming with me to take turns driving 1300 miles south and back again on the condition that we swing by Mickey's mousepad on the way home.
gaze We ended up covering nearly the entire park in one day. Here is Connie in an early moment of quiet reflection while I try to figure out how to use the borrowed digital camera.
People who grumble about all the unnecessary SUV's crowding the highways should consider the following. That yuppy zipadee-doo-dah'ing to the post office by day could very well be a working musician hauling tons of gear by night. This sporty little tooncar gets great mileage, but cargo space is minimal and the alarm system can get a bit cranky. tooncar
hatter This is an action shot, although you may not be able to tell. Those Disney characters don't fool around. Winnie the Pooh actually had a line formed halfway around the Matterhorn to get a picture with him. The Mad Hatter was an easier target because he moved fast enough to thwart the stroller wheeling populace.
cave Indiana Jones and the Temple of Long Lines. Actually, there was no line... we outfoxed them by waiting for the Mulan parade to start again on Main Street late in the evening. As it was, we barely even had time to stop and take advantage of these picturesque spots along the way to the ride, and lost our place to the swift tides several times while demonstrating the newly discovered functions of the digital camera to an excitable family in line behind us. cave 2
This was taken at the end of the day, near closing time. Notice our almost total lack of commercial paraphernalia. Don't get me wrong... we did indulge (I bought a giant Kaa snake puppet in the villains gift shop and a photo of us screaming down Splash Mountain among other things; she bought a parasol for her daughter among other things) but they have this new policy at Disneyland: you can buy all the stuff you want and have it "mailed" via the "Disneyland Express" to the park entrance so it's waiting for you when you leave. How very convenient for their bank account. bought out
