Row inspector
The Row inspector is usable only when you have selected either some rows in the outline, or a styles palette entry that affects rows.
Numbering
Rows with numbering styles applied to them will have automatically-incrementing values inserted before the row content. As you create and rearrange rows, their numbering will change to remain correct. This is particularly useful when applied as a level style or as an inherited style.
Select the numbering scheme you would like from the
Numbering
pop-up menu.
The
Lowercase
checkbox will change any letters in the numbering scheme to their lowercase equivalent.
Text that you enter in the
Prefix
or
Suffix
fields will appear before or after the numbering on each row. For example, if you set the prefix to "(" and the suffix to ")", your numbers would all be enclosed in parentheses.
Spacing
Child items are indented from their parent items; the
Indent children
value controls how many points to the right they should be.
The
Before row
and
After row
values control how many points of space there should be above an item and below it.
The
Row to note
value controls how many points there should be vertically between a row's text and its note.
The
Row to children
value controls how many points there should be vertically between a row and its own first child.
Advanced
The
Show handles
buttons determine when the row handles should be visible. The default is
Always
;
Under mouse
means the handles will be visible only when you point to them;
Never
hides the handles, preventing you from dragging rows or clicking the handles to expand and collapse.
Selecting the
Gutter color
checkbox will fill the row's gutter with the color in the color well.
The
Sort Children
sets whether the row's children should be allowed to be rearranged by OmniOutliner's sorting functions. This is useful when you have some rows that you want to keep in a specific order.
Select the
Page break before row
checkbox to insert a page break above the currently selected row, thus putting it at the top of a new page. The page break is represented by a dotted red line in the document window, and will be respected when printing the outline.
