Clippings

Clipping files collect information that you send to OmniOutliner from any application, and organizes it by date and time. Whenever you come across a bit of information that you would like to save, you can quickly store it away in an outline for future reference.
To add information to a clipping file:
  • Select some text in an application that supports Mac OS X Services.
  • From the application menu, select Services ‣ OmniOutliner ‣ Add to —. The exact menu you see here is determined by how many clippings files you have available. If you're using OmniOutliner Pro and you've added some files to the list in your Clippings preferences, there is a submenu listing them all. If you only have the default clippings file, the menu command just reads Add to Clippings or Add to Default Clippings.
The selected text will be inserted into the clipping file, marked with the current date and time. Inline images are also included.
This will work in many fine applications. However, since each application is responsible for its own Services support; there may be applications that cannot use this service.
There is a Clippings preference pane, where you can edit the list of clipping files and change the way clippings are collected.
