Layers Inspector

The Layers Inspector is used to control the layers in the active canvas.

In the Layers Inspector you can add and remove layers, set a background color for the canvas, control layer properties, move objects between layers and select objects in layers.

Layers in the active canvas are shown in the layer viewer, with a small preview of the layer contents and the layer name. To edit the layer name, double click on the name in the viewer. Layers can be rearranged by dragging them within the layer viewer.

To add a layer, click the plus button. A new layer will appear with the name "Layer #", where # will be replaced with a number representing which layer this is. To remove a layer, select the layer you wish to remove from the viewer and click the minus button. Each canvas must have a minimum of one layer.

The background color for the canvas can be set by clicking on the background color well and choosing a color.

The active layer for drawing is shown with a small pencil icon to the left of the layer previews. The layers which contain the currently selected objects are shown with a selection square icon, also to the left of the layer previews.

The eye icon to the right of each layer toggles whether a layer is visible in the active canvas. The printer icon toggles whether a layer will be printed, and the lock icon toggles whether a layer is locked (can't be edited) or not. Invisible layers will not be printed.

The Move to Layer button moves the currently selected objects from their current layers to the selected layer.

The Select All in Layer button selects all objects on the currently selected layer.
