Geometry Inspector

The Geometry Inspector is used to control geometric properties of shape, polygon, line and text objects.

In the Geometry Inspector you can set the origin, width, height and rotation of an object, and flip an object along its horizontal or vertical centerline.

The origin of an object can be set by using the X and Y text fields. These fields use the units set in the OmniGraffle Preferences. The origin of a object is the top left corner of the object, with X and Y values measured from the top left corner of the canvas.

The width and height of an object can be set by using the Width and Height text fields. These fields use the units set in the OmniGraffle Preferences. If the Maintain aspect ratio checkbox is checked, any changes to either width or height will cause the other field to update so that the ratio of height to width is maintained.

If you enter a value followed by a % sign into either the width or height field, the previous value for that field will be scaled by the percentage value entered.

You can enter in the value of X, Y, width and height in any of OmniGraffle's four unit types and OmniGraffle will automatically convert the value to your default unit type. The four suffixes you can enter after a value are: in (inches), cm (centimeters), pt (points), pc (picas).

The rotation angle can be changed by either entering an angle into the angle text field, or moving the rotation slider.

By holding down the shift key while moving the rotation slider will change the rotation angle in 15º increments.

You can flip an object along its vertical centerline by clicking the Flip Left/Right button.

You can flip an object along its horizontal centerline by clicking the Flip Top/Bottom button.
