Exporting to Other Formats

Choosing Export... from the File menu will open up an Export Panel .

At the top you can enter the file title for the exported document and specify where you want it saved.

You can choose the Format of the export type by choosing one of the options from the pop-up menu. There are eight different export types to choose from: Read-only OmniGraffle drawing, Adobe PDF document, TIFF image, PNG image, JPEG image, EPS file, HTML document, and Visio® XML Drawing.

The Export Area can be set to one of five options: Current Selection, All Graphics, Region, Current Canvas, Entire Document.

If Current Selection is set the exported image will contain all of the currently selected objects in the active canvas.

If All Graphics is set the exported image will contain all of the graphics in the active canvas.

If Region is set the bounds of the exported image will be set by the values in the X, Y, Width, and Height text fields.

You can enter in the value of the X, Y, Width, and Height in any of OmniGraffle's four unit types and OmniGraffle will automatically convert the value to your default unit type. The four suffixes you can enter after a value are: in (inches), cm (centimeters), pt (points), pc (picas).

If Current Canvas is selected the exported image or HTML document will contain all of the currently active canvas.

If Entire Document is selected each canvas in the document will have an exported image or HTML document.

The Add Border Space checkbox toggles whether extra space is added to the image outside of the bounds of the exported graphics.

The Bitmap Resolution can be set by entering a value into the resolution text box. The resolution can be set to either dots per inch or dots per point by using the pop-up menu.

The JPEG Compression can be set by using the compression slider. The values range from small file sizes and poor quality to large file sizes and high quality.

For the compression slider, if you move the cursor over the tick marks while dragging, the slider will snap to the respective value.

The Transparent Background option controls whether image formats that support transparency will use a transparent or solid background.

The HTML Image Type option sets the image type to be used for graphics when performing an HTML export.
