Canvas Size Inspector

The Canvas Size Inspector is used to control the main properties of the active canvas.

In the Canvas Size Inspector you can specify the size and scale of the active canvas, size the canvas to fit your objects or scale your objects to fit the canvas, specify the orientation of the active canvas, and specify the document print margins.

The width and height of the active canvas can be set by using the width and height text fields.

You can enter in the value of canvas width and height in any of OmniGraffle's four unit types and OmniGraffle will automatically convert the value to your default unit type. The four suffixes you can enter after a value are: in (inches), cm (centimeters), pt (points), pc (picas).

If you check Size is multiple of printer sheets the values present in the width and height fields will be rounded up to the nearest multiple of printer sheets.

The Size to Fit button will adjust the width and height values so that the bottom right most object is on the active canvas. If Size is multiple of printer sheets is checked, the width and height values will be adjusted in multiple of pages.

The scale of the active canvas can be set by using the scale text field. This is used to change the size of the canvas relative to its objects. If a canvas had a height of 2 inches at a scale of 100%, it would have a height of 4 inches at a scale of 50% and 1 inch at 200%.

The Scale to Fit button will adjust the canvas scale value so that the objects on the canvas will border the bottom or right side of the canvas.

The orientation of the active canvas can be set by selecting an option from the orientation pop-up menu.

The print margins for the active canvas can be set by using the top, bottom, left and right text fields.

You can enter in the value of the top, bottom, left and right margins in any of OmniGraffle's four unit types and OmniGraffle will automatically convert the value to your default unit type. The four suffixes you can enter after a value are: in (inches), cm (centimeters), pt (points), pc (picas).

If you check Use selected printer's entire sheet, OmniGraffle will determine the maximum area that your currently selected printer can print on and set the print margin accordingly.
