The Action Inspector is used to add actions to shape, polygon, line and text objects.
An object can have one of three different actions applied to it: Open a URL or file, Run a script, or Jump elsewhere in the document.
When Open a URL or file is selected you can specify the URL or file that you wish to open when you click on the graphic.
You can specify the URL in several ways. If it is a web URL, you can simply enter the address and OmniGraffle will automatically make it into a web link. You can also drag a link from your browser onto a shape or the URL field to set that link as the action.
For file URLs, you can either specify them with an absolute file path or with a remote file path from the current document's location. As with web links, you can drag file icons from the Finder onto a shape or the URL field to set that link as the action.
If you drag a link from your browser and drop it onto an empty location in the OmniGraffle canvas, a new text object will be created with the text set to the link label, and the action set to the link's URL.
When Run a script is selected you can enter an Applescript into the script field. Once you have the script entered you can click the Check Syntax button and if there are no errors the script will be color coded in the script field. You can then click the Run Script button to activate the Applescript.
When Jump elsewhere in the document is selected you can specify one of two options. The first option, Center on point, lets you click a point in the canvas preview window or click and drag the point. When you click and drag, the crosshairs showing the point will move about the preview window.
The second option, Zoom to rectangle, lets you both size and position the zoom rectangle in the canvas preview. To move the current rectangle, click on the rectangle in the preview and drag it around to the position that you want. To change the size or shape of the rectangle, click and drag outside of the currently drawn rectangle.
